Research on Custody Transfer Service in Delay Tolerant Network

چکیده
A delay/disruption tolerant network (DTN) architecture was proposed to effectively support communication in challenging scenarios characterized by intermittent connectivity and long latency. The custody transfer (CT) mechanism is used to improve the reliability of DTN. We proposed a mathematical model of the DTN data link. Based on this model, we simplified a link containing both nodes with and without CT into a link containing only nodes with CT. We developed a NS2-based DTN simulator and conducted three simulations. The first two simulations are conducted on links whose hops are from 2 to 10, where all relay nodes accept or deny CT. The simulation results show that the destination node receives far more data when CT is available; furthermore, the storage consumption of the source node decreases. The third simulation is conducted to evaluate the effect of retransmission timer on storage consumption and retransmission times. The simulation results show that the value of retransmission timer that is greater than the maximum round-trip-time between adjacent nodes and less than the minimum disconnection interval is a good candidate for DTN data transfer.

Custody Transfer for Reliable Delivery in Delay Tolerant Networks
We investigate the custody transfer mechanism proposed for enhancing reliability in delay-tolerant networks. This mechanism, which utilizes hop-by-hop transfer of reliable delivery responsibility, shares many features in common with a database transaction. By considering custody transfer in this light, we observe that it can cause the creation of duplicate message fragments within the network t...

We present a network architecture, DTNLite, for reliable message delivery in sensor networks facing problems of high mobility, frequent disconnections and unreliable nodes . It is based on the DTN( Delay Tolerant Networking) architecture and its main features are asynchronous message delivery combined with custody transfer on an overlay network on sensor motes. We present an implementation of t...

Although custodial transmission of multicast bundles would be a desirable capability to have in Delay-Tolerant Networks (DTNs), support for custodial multicast transmission was omitted from the Bundle Protocol Specification because of its complexity. This paper explains the difficulties that arise with respect to supporting custody transfer and retransmission of multicast bundles, and it descri...

In disruption delay tolerant networks communication is possible even if end to end connectivity is never achievable by using store and carry forward fashion. In this system it uses node by node custody transfer. If a message is lost and custody is not acknowledged by next node then last custodian retransmits the message. In this paper, propose an efficient scheme that ensures appropriate NCL se...
متن کاملPerformance Comparison of Unicast Routing Schemes in DTNs
Delay and disruption tolerant network(DTN)s have been proposed to address data communication challenges in network scenarios where an instantaneous end-to-end path between a source and destination may not exist, and the links between nodes may be opportunistic, predictably connectable, or periodically-(dis)connected. In this paper, we focus on comparing the performance of different proposed uni...
